Martin Nagell

Co-founder

Martin Nagell has more than 25 years of professional experience in investment banking, management consulting and global green infrastructure investing. He spent over 15 years in various roles with Masdar, the UAE's leading clean energy company, advising the CEO and pioneering the corporate strategy, asset management and M&A execution functions. He has made several contributions to IRENA, the OPSWF network and the IMF on bankable electricity market policies and how to scale renewable energy investments in Emerging and Developing Markets. Prior to joining Masdar, Martin spent 5 years with the Boston Consulting Group, and 5 years with Danske Bank, focusing on value based management and risk, and the execution of M&A and capital markets mandates. He holds a MSc. In finance from the Norwegian School of Economics, and an MBA from Instituto de Empresa.

Mohammad Shahrour

Co-founder

Mohammad Shahrour has experience from developing over 3 GW of renewable energy projects across Central Asia and the Middle East. He is currently with Masdar, as a senior manager in the development and investment division, and is holding several board positions in JVs representing Masdar’s interests. Prior to joining Masdar, he held a key role in Glencore's London-based commodities trading division, where he managed risk for a portfolio exceeding USD 1 billion across North America, Europe, and Africa through the use of various derivative instruments. Mohammad holds a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, graduating at the top of his class.

Elsa Izere

Co-Founder

Elsa Izere has nearly a decade of investment experience in solar energy and climate finance, and is deeply familiar with emerging African markets, gained serving as a Portfolio Manager at the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Gabon and as a Senior Investment Manager at Sawa Energy. She has partnered with institutions like the World Bank Group, S&P Global, and the OPSWF Network and has managed investment portfolios valued over $100 million, unlocking value through value-based management practices and the commercialization of carbon credits. She is proficient with the full investment cycle from origination to closing and has led end-to-end fundraising and deployment for Commercial & Industrial solar projects across Uganda, Rwanda, and Zambia. Having grown up on three continents, her diverse background has given her sharp insights into global systemic challenges, fueling her passion for sustainable development. Elsa holds a degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign and is committed to advancing renewable energy initiatives in the region from her base in Nairobi, Kenya.

Lawrence Okoth

Technical Operations Manager, East Africa

Lawrence Okoth is a seasoned electrical engineer with over a decade of experience designing, building, and operating medium voltage power lines, solar and energy storage systems across East Africa. A licensed Professional Engineer and certified Solar PV Technician, he has successfully delivered more than 50km of power distribution network, 20 solar mini-grids, 16MWp/7MWh of Commercial & Industrial solar PV and BESS projects across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. His career spans the full technical lifecycle of PowerGen Renewable Energy, DREAM EP Global Energy, and Starsight Premier Energy Group, and has consulted independently for GIZ on mini-grids in displacement settings. At Electrify.Solar, Lawrence brings the engineering depth and project execution experience essential to assessing asset quality, monitoring construction progress, and ensuring that tokenized solar projects meet rigorous technical standards. Proficient in PVSyst, AutoCAD, ETAP, and SCADA systems, he holds a BSc. in Electrical and Communications Engineering from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and a MSc. Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
